Five people were killed and 17 others were injured in a road accident in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district on Tuesday. Officials of Gariaband district said on Tuesday that five people on a tractor-trolley were killed and 17 others were injured in a collision between a truck and a tractor near Joba village in the district. CM Bhupesh Baghel has announced a grant of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the dead and Rs 50,000 to the injured. The district administration has been instructed to treat the injured.
Officials said that the police have received information that the villagers of Majrakatta village had gone to other villages for the celebration of the birth anniversary and when they were returning in a tractor, the truck and the tractor collided near Joba village. According to officials, the tractor trolley overturned in the incident, killing five people on board and injuring 17 others.
He said that when the police came to know about the incident, a police team was dispatched to the spot and the bodies and injured were sent to the hospital. Officials said that 14 injured have been sent to Raipur for better treatment. Three other injured are being treated at the district hospital in Gariaband.
District police officials said that the police have registered a case and the matter is being investigated. Senior state officials said that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has expressed deep grief over the death of villagers in a road accident in Gariaband district. Officials said that Chief Minister Baghel has directed the district administration to provide best treatment to the injured in this incident.
