A massive fire broke out in a leather factory in Tangra area of West Bengal’s capital Kolkata on Saturday evening. 15 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire. According to a senior fire department official, the fire broke out at around 6.30 pm in a building used as a leather factory on 3 Maher Ali Lane in the congested area. On seeing this fire became fierce and it engulfed the entire area.
According to Kolkata Police, people were evacuated from adjacent huts in view of the danger. Two fire brigade personnel received injuries during the fire extinguishing operation and have been taken to the hospital. During this, the water in the fire brigade ran out and local people were seen trying to extinguish the fire by taking buckets of water from their homes. But their efforts were not successful in the fierce fire.

The fire brigade official said that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Our firefighters are working on a war footing to extinguish it.” On the other hand, local people allege that the fire tenders reached the area late and spread the fire in the building. The flames were visible from afar in the entire area. However, till now no casualty has been reported due to this fire.
