Actress Roopa Dutta has been arrested for stealing by diverting attention at the venue of Kolkata Book Fair. A police officer gave this information on Sunday. Dutta, who has acted in several TV serials, was arrested on Saturday after a policeman was seen throwing her purse in the dustbin, an official of Bidhan Nagar North police station said.

75 thousand cash was recovered
 
Dutta was interrogated in custody and several contradictions were found in his statements, according to the official. He told that during the investigation, several wallets and Rs 75,000 cash were recovered from the purse of the actress. The officer said, "Dutta has been arrested on charges of ‘Kepmari’ (diverting theft) and investigations are on to find out if there were other people involved in the crime."
