Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday, two days before the Uttar Pradesh assembly election results, made serious allegations against the UP government regarding EVMs. Akhilesh Yadav said that EVMs in Varanasi were being taken somewhere by trucks. He claimed that one truck was stopped by the people but two trucks ran away. Now in this case, the Election Commission has given instructions to take action against Varanasi’s ADM NK Singh.
The Election Commission (EC) said that the EC has asked the CEO of UP to take action against Varanasi ADM NK Singh for alleged violation of rules in transportation of training EVMs. According to sources, NK Singh has been suspended.

On the allegations of Akhilesh Yadav, the Election Commission had said on Tuesday that it has been brought to the notice by some media channels that some electronic voting machines were being carried in a vehicle in Varanasi, which was objected by the political representatives present there. During investigation it was found that these EVMs were marked for training. According to the statement, training has been organized yesterday (Wednesday) for the training of counting officers in the district, for which EVMs were being brought from the storage in separate food godown located in Mandi to the training site at UP College.
On this argument of the Election Commission, the Samajwadi Party says that the necessary protocol was not followed in carrying EVMs. The information about the movement of EVMs was not given to the candidates.
