Before becoming the Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann will resign from the membership of MP today. Mann is a two-time MP from Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency. Mann managed to win the assembly elections from Dhuri assembly seat. He defeated Congress candidate Dalveer Singh Goldie by 58,206 votes.
Before resigning from the membership of MP by going to Delhi, Bhagwant Mann said in a tweet, ‘Today I am resigning from the post of MP of Sangrur by going to Delhi. The people of Sangrur have given me a lot of love for so many years, so many thanks. Now I have got an opportunity to serve the whole of Punjab, I promise the people of Sangrur that in a few months their voice will resonate in the Lok Sabha again.
Bhagwant Mann will take oath alone on Wednesday
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Bhagwant Mann will take oath as the chief minister on Wednesday alone. The oath ceremony of his cabinet will be held later, which can have 17 members. Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP won 92 seats in Punjab, where the party’s vote share stood at 42.4 per cent. A day earlier, Mann met Governor Banwarilal Purohit at the Raj Bhavan and staked claim to form the government.
‘If a minister is found indulging in wrongdoing in Punjab, he will also be sent to jail’
After the massive victory in Punjab, Kejriwal and the future Chief Minister of Punjab, Sardar Bhagwant Mann expressed their gratitude to the people of Punjab by conducting a road show on Sunday. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that if any Aam Aadmi Party MLA in Punjab is found indulging in any wrongdoing, he will have to go to jail.
Regarding the promises made to the people of Punjab, Kejriwal said that “some promises we will fulfill immediately, but some promises may take time to fulfill. An honest government will be formed in Punjab and the loot that was going on will stop. Now Every penny will be spent on the poor and the people of Punjab. If any minister or MLA also moves here and there, he will not be released, he will be sent directly to jail. We will fulfill all the guarantees. Some can be fulfilled immediately and some in a little It may take time.”
