Bhagwant Mann, the future Chief Minister of Punjab, is leaving for Delhi on Sunday night. He will resign from the post of MP on Monday. Bhagwant Mann will take oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab on March 16. Earlier on Sunday, he did a roadshow in Amritsar with Arvind Kejriwal and thanked the public for giving majority. Bhagwant Mann will take oath as Chief Minister by visiting Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s village. He had won the election of MP from Sangrur seat of Punjab in the last Lok Sabha elections. He will have to resign from the post of MP before becoming CM.
Earlier, after the election results, Bhagwant Mann was elected the leader of the legislature party. Even before the elections, the Aam Aadmi Party had declared him the face of the post of Chief Minister in the state and under his leadership, the party made a historic performance and won 92 seats. While the Congress party had to face a crushing defeat in the state. All the veterans of Congress and Akali Dal have faced defeat in the assembly elections.
Earlier, Bhagwant Mann met Governor Banwari Lal Purohit on Saturday and staked claim to form the government in the state. After meeting the Governor, he handed over the letter of support of the MLAs to the Governor, which has been accepted by the Governor. Bhagwant Mann said, “Our effort will be that people’s work should be done at their homes. When we go to their homes to seek votes, then why do we call them to Chandigarh. The Punjab government will reach people’s doorsteps.”
