Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has said that the body of Naveen SG, a student killed in shelling on March 1 in Ukraine, will be brought here on Monday, March 21, and not on Sunday, as was said earlier. Karnataka Chief Minister tweeted, ‘The body of Naveen Gyangowda, who was killed in the recent Russian shelling in Ukraine, will be brought to Bengaluru at 3 am on Monday.’
Confusion over dead body
The Chief Minister had told the media that the body would be brought on Sunday. Officials close to him said that there was confusion about bringing the body. That is, it was not decided that the body would be brought back on Sunday itself. A close aide of Bommai told that, ‘Now it has been clarified that the body will be brought on Monday and not on Sunday, as it was said earlier that the body may come on Sunday’.

Naveen, a fourth year medical student in Kharkiv city, had died when he had left the bunker to collect food and money. During this, a Russian missile fell there, in which Naveen was killed. Naveen Sekharappa, a 22-year-old student from Chalgeri village in Ranebennur taluk of Haveri in Karnataka, was the second son of Gyanagowda. Gyanegowda is demanding to bring the body of his son to India for the last rites. Earlier, CM Bommai had also said that he is in touch with the Home Ministry to bring the dead body to India.
