Guinness Book of World Records: The Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI) of the Center of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in Ludhiana has created the world’s largest solar tree, for which he has also been awarded the Guinness Book of World Records. The total area of this solar panel is 309.83 square meters, whereas before that there was a world record of 67 square meters.
Ashwini Kumar Kushwaha, Senior Principal Scientist from the team that prepared this solar panel said that the total capacity of this solar tree is 53.6 kW and it can generate about 160 to 200 units of electricity in a day. The foundation of the solar tree is very low and the entire structure is in the air. It has been designed keeping in view the Integrated Farming for Agriculture which will help in providing electricity to the farmers in remote areas.

It has cost Rs 41.2 lakh to make and took about 9 months to prepare. However, this unit is for exhibition only. You can run this solar pump in your farm. E-rickshaws can charge and generate their own electricity as well. Now its electricity is being given to Punjab State Power Corporation Limited.
Principal Scientist Hanumant Prasad Ikriti told that he took over the work of electrical part of this solar tree. It has about 160 solar panels. By collecting it, they are giving it to the grid of PSPCL. Since the beginning of the last month of January, till now about 6300 units of electricity have been generated. Although not much electricity was generated in January and February due to not so good weather, but in the last 15 to 20 days the production is getting good and generating up to 200 minutes and the average power generation is 160 to 200 minutes.
