In the case filed under the Official Secrets Act, Mumbai Cyber Police had summoned former Maharashtra CM Fadnavis. In the summons, he was asked to be present at the Cyber Police Station located on the first floor of BKC Police Station today. However, later the cyber unit of Mumbai Police reached Fadnavis’s government bungalow in Malabar Hill and recorded his statement.
The matter is a year old when in March 2021, Fadnavis had raised many questions regarding transfer posting in the police department during a press conference. Devendra Fadnavis had tweeted in this matter and said that he has received a call from Joint CP Crime, in which he said that I do not need to go to BKC police station. The team will come home only to collect the necessary information. I will stay at my residence. They can come anytime. Jai Hind, Jai Maharashtra!
This is the allegation on Fadnavis
The former CM of Maharashtra is accused that Fadnavis met the Union Home Secretary of the Central Government and handed over some secret documents related to police transfer to the Union Home Secretary. After this, within two days, the Mumbai Police had registered a case against Devendra Fadnavis for violating the Secret Act. In the same case, in September 2021, Fadnavis was issued two to three notices by the Cyber Unit of Mumbai Police. In response to the last notice, Fadnavis sent a reply in a sealed cover to the cyber unit that he would reply soon.
CBI is also investigating
According to the notice sent by the cyber unit, Fadnavis did not register his reply, due to which now the cyber unit directly reached the government bungalow of Fadnavis. CBI is investigating this matter. So far, former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh have also been questioned in this case.
