Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit administered oath to Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar as Pro-tem Speaker of Punjab Legislative Assembly at Raj Bhavan today. Inderbir Singh Nijjar has reached the assembly after electing from Amritsar South seat of Punjab. According to reports, the Aam Aadmi Party has called a three-day assembly session. Nijjar Chief is the current President of Khalsa Diwan and leader of Aam Aadmi Party. Where you leader Bhagwant Mann took oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab on Wednesday. Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mann at a ceremony held at Khatkar Kalan, the native village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh in SBS (Shaheed Bhagat Singh) Nagar district of the state.
Holi on March 19, 10 ministers of Punjab can take oath. At present, out of 17 ministers, only 10 ministers are talking about taking oath. There is no thought of appointment of Deputy CM as of now. Newly elected MLAs of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Minister in Delhi Government Satyendar Jain and others were present in today’s swearing-in ceremony. Everyone was wearing yellow turban.
AAP’s Punjab affairs in-charge Jarnail Singh and co-in-charge Raghav Chadha also attended the program. Mann, 48, who took oath in Punjabi, also gave a brief speech at the event. In his first speech after becoming chief minister, Mann assured the people of the state that his party’s government in Punjab would work to address issues like unemployment, corruption and the plight of farmers. He said, “Work will start from today itself. We will not waste a single day. We are already 70 years late.” Mann promised that the condition of government schools and hospitals in the state would be improved like the AAP government has done in Delhi. He said that just as people from abroad come to see better schools and hospitals in Delhi, they will also come to Punjab. He also mentioned the issue of migration of youth of Punjab to other countries for better future.
