The State Election Commission was to hold a press conference on Wednesday regarding the MCD elections to be held in Delhi. In this press conference, the date of MCD elections in Delhi was to be announced, but the press conference was canceled at the last minute and State Election Commission Commissioner SK Srivastava postponed the announcement of the dates.
During this, SK Srivastava, commissioner of the State Election Commission, said that he has received a message from the central government. The government can unite the three municipal corporations. Therefore, at present the dates of the elections are not being announced yet. However, Commissioner SK Srivastava claimed that according to the rules, the elections would have to be held before May 18.
With the postponement of the date of MCD elections, the Aam Aadmi Party has become an attacker at the Center. The Education Minister of Delhi said that BJP is doing this propaganda out of fear of defeat. Manish Sisodia said that the Election Commission should discharge its duties to protect democracy. Manish Sisodia said that this is the first time in independent India that the Election Commission has postponed the date of elections in this way.
However, the Delhi State Election Commission said that according to the rules, it is necessary to conduct elections before May 18. In such a situation, it is being speculated whether the Delhi elections will now be postponed for a whole month or they will be postponed for a long time.
