He said, “Keeping this in mind, the Government of India started Operation Ganga. It was a major operation to be carried out in difficult conditions.
S Jaishankar said, “The Indian Embassy had issued advisories on February 15, 20 and 22 asking students and Indian citizens to leave Ukraine. Despite the continuing advisory, a large number of students were not leaving from there. His fear was that his studies should not remain incomplete.
He said, “When the situation worsened, more than 18000 Indian students were stranded there, keeping this in mind, call centers were set up in Ukraine including India. Hey space was closed due to bad atmosphere, so it was decided to remove the students from the border of neighboring countries at Lukens HQ and for this a large number of officials were sent to the borders of neighboring countries.
Jaishankar said that during this operation, the Prime Minister was constantly conducting review meetings and monitoring it. During this, full support of all the ministries was also received. As soon as the situation started deteriorating there, the Indian High Commission started registration of Indians there from January 2022.
