Friday Prayers In Mosque: The Islamic Center of India has appealed to mosques to change the timing of Friday prayers in view of Holi in order to maintain peace and harmony in the country. Maulana Khalid Rashid, Imam of Islamic Center of India Farangi Mahal and Lucknow Idgah, said in a statement issued on Wednesday that since Holi, Shab-e-Barat and Juma are falling on the same day, keeping in mind the Ganga Jamuni Tehzeeb of the country All efforts should be made to ensure peace.
He has appealed to extend the timing of Friday prayers in mosques and asked Muslims to offer prayers in mosques of their respective areas instead of going to other mosques on that day. Following this appeal, at least 22 mosques, including some prominent mosques like Jama Masjid Idgah, Masjid Aishbagh, A Minara Masjid at Akbari Gate, Masjid Shahmina Shah and Masjid Chowk, have extended Friday prayers after 1.30 pm.
The Islamic Center of India has also asked Muslims to observe Shab-e-Barat on the same day. Holi Visit mosques and graves of your loved ones only after the play time is over at 5 pm and don’t burst fireworks. It is worth noting that even four years ago, many festivals were held together and even then the clerics had changed the timing of Friday prayers to maintain peace and harmony.
