Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu had fielded from Amritsar East in the Punjab Assembly elections, but he was defeated by Jeevan Jyoti Kaur of Aam Aadmi Party. Apart from Sidhu, all the veteran Congress leaders including Charanjit Singh Channi had to face defeat. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) secured a massive majority in the state by winning 92 seats out of the total 117. After getting defeated in the elections, Navjot Singh Sidhu reached his constituency on Friday and thanked the people. During this, he also targeted the Congress in gestures.
Navjot Singh Sidhu said, “I will be with Punjab. Those who dug pits and tried to humiliate Sidhu have suffered. It was a change in politics. Congratulations to the people who changed the traditional parties. Life I have seen a lot of winning and losing, now the issue is to win Punjab. Earlier on Thursday, Sidhu, accepting the party’s crushing defeat, congratulated the Aam Aadmi Party on the victory.
The Congress leader tweeted on Thursday, “The voice of the people is the voice of God. We accept our defeat. The decision of the people of Punjab is on the head. Congratulations to the Aam Aadmi Party on the victory.” Amritsar: Apart from Navjot Singh Sidhu, Akali Dal’s Bikram Singh Majithia was also contesting in this seat, but both these veteran leaders had to face defeat and ‘AAP’ candidate surprised everyone by winning.
