NCP leader and minister in Maharashtra government Nawab Malik’s troubles are not taking the name of lessening. The Bombay High Court had dismissed the plea for the release of Nawab Malik, arrested by the ED in the money laundering case. At the same time, his party NCP has decided to temporarily hand over the charge of his ministry to another minister till his release.

Giving information about this, Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil said this to the media on Thursday. Patil, who is also the NCP’s Maharashtra unit president, said the party’s decision would be conveyed to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and he would take the final decision in the matter.

Significantly, the Bombay High Court had dismissed Malik’s plea for interim relief. In the petition, Malik had said that the action taken by the ED on him was illegal, saying that he should be granted bail.

What is the charge on Nawab Malik

This case is related to the purchase of land from the family of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. In this case, the investigating agency has accused of money laundering. In this case, the ED had arrested Nawab Malik on 23 February.

The investigating agency had accused him of being involved in offenses punishable under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. After his arrest, the ED took him into custody and interrogated him. On 7 March, he was sent to judicial custody for 14 days by a Mumbai court after the completion of his period of custody.

Nawab Malik is alleged to have bought a 3-acre land of Goa compound located in Kurla from Haseena Parkar, sister of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. For this he had given only 55 lakh rupees. The investigating agency says that the present value of the land is around Rs 300 crore.
