The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has claimed that terrorist Afshan Parvez is a key operative of ISIS. Parvez was also associated with ISIS operatives based in Afghanistan-Pakistan and was actively involved in recruitment for ISIS. News agency ANI has been quoted as saying that an NIA officer said that Afshan Parvez is a key operative of ISIS and a close aide of the charge-sheeted accused Umar Nisar. Parvez was also associated with ISIS operatives based in Afghanistan and Pakistan and was active in recruiting ISIS.

The NIA officer said that after the arrest of Umar Nisar, he was appointed head of ISIS activities in India and was looking after the ISIS activities on the ground along with the media. He was actively disseminating ISIS propaganda material through different online platforms. The NIA has named Afshan Parvez and Tauheed Latif Sofi in the supplementary charge sheet filed in the special court located at Patiala House in Delhi.

Terrorists Afshan Parvez and Tauheed Latif Sofi are both residents of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. A case was registered against both the terrorists under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The case was registered by the NIA in June last year. In which there is an allegation of conspiracy by ISIS to radicalize Muslim youth for violent jihad against India and for recruitment in terrorist organization.
