Earlier, Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mann at the swearing-in ceremony held at Khatkar Kalan, the native village of great freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar district. Mann took oath in Punjabi language.

Bhagwant Mann said during the oath that we are also the government of those who did not vote for us. Time is a big thing, don’t be arrogant. Bhagat Singh was not worried about how the country would be free, he was worried about how the country would be after independence.
Apart from the newly-elected MLAs of AAP, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and other senior leaders attended the swearing-in ceremony wearing yellow turbans. AAP has performed brilliantly in the Punjab Assembly elections by winning 92 out of 117 seats and formed the government for the first time in the state.
Before taking oath today, Bhagwant Mann tweeted and said, “The golden ray of sun has brought a new dawn today. To fulfill the dreams of Bhagat Singh and Babasaheb, the whole of Punjab will take oath today in Khatkar Kalan village.
