Prime minister Narendra Modi spoke to embassy officials, community organisations, civil society and volunteer groups assisting in ‘Operation Ganga’, the evacuation operation of Indian citizens and students from war-torn Ukraine on Tuesday. The Prime Minister said that collective efforts ensured the safe return of around 23,000 Indians from Ukraine. We are committed to ensure the safety and well being of Indians in distress abroad.

When Russia invaded Ukraine last month, thousands of students and citizens of India were trapped there. The government worked to bring back the students by running a special operation. During this, all the community organizations and volunteers, including the officials of the embassy, ​​had cooperated.
