SC rejects CBI’s reply on Abu Salem’s release, know what it said



Supreme Court: The Supreme Court has rejected the response of the CBI regarding the release of underworld gangster Abu Salem. Asked the Union Home Secretary to file a reply. Salem has said that the Indian government had given a written assurance to the Portuguese government that he would not be given the death penalty.

At the same time, it was also said that he would not be given a sentence of more than 25 years in any case. The CBI has replied that the assurance of the government does not apply to any court. The court said, if such an attitude is adopted, there will be problems in the extradition of other fugitives in future.
