BSF has achieved great success on the Indo-Bangladesh border. BSF has seized 40 gold biscuits worth Rs 2.42 crore. Smugglers were trying to bring gold biscuits to India from North 24 Parganas district. The weight of these 40 gold biscuits is 4.6 kg.
On Wednesday, around 7.45 pm, a jawan of the Dobarpara border outpost noticed the movement of a suspicious person in the line of duty. The young man asked him to stop. Seeing the jawan, the smuggler threw his pot and fled towards Bangladesh taking the support of dense bushes and Ichhamati river.
By then senior officers had reached the spot. As soon as the smuggler’s pot was opened, 40 gold biscuits were recovered from it. The seized gold biscuits have been handed over to Custom Office Petrapole for further legal proceedings.
South Bengal Frontier Public Relations Officer and DIG Surjit Singh Guleria said, “The Border Security Force is taking strict measures to check smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border, due to which those involved in such crimes face a lot of trouble. Smugglers having wrong intentions will not be spared.
He said that special training is being given to the BSF personnel about every modus operandi of the smugglers so that the smugglers’ trap can be broken. BSF Intelligence is constantly engaged in gathering information that which syndicate gang is behind these seized gold biscuits.
