Suspended senior leader of West Bengal BJP Jai Prakash Majumdar joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Kolkata today. Jai Prakash Majumdar was suspended from BJP in January this year. He joined TMC today in the presence of Chief Minister and party chief Mamata Banerjee. On joining the party, CM Mamta said that Jai Prakash Majumdar will fulfill the responsibility of the state vice-president of Trinamool Congress.
Soon after Jai Prakash Majumdar joined the TMC, he was inducted into the party’s state committee. Senior leaders of the ruling party including Education Minister Partha Chatterjee and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim were present in this program. Before Majumdar officially joined TMC, CM Mamta addressed the program organized to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Majumdar accused of making anti-party statement
Majumdar was suspended by the BJP a day after he was given a show cause letter along with another party leader Ritesh Tiwari. Majumdar was accused of making anti-party statements. Then both these leaders were the state vice-presidents of BJP. In a one-line order issued on the instructions of state BJP president Sukanta Majumdar, it was said that both the leaders are being temporarily suspended till the investigation is completed on the allegation of violation of party discipline.
Let us inform that after TMC’s thumping victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections in 2021, leaders like Mukul Roy, Sabyasachi Dutta and Rajiv Banerjee, including former Union Minister Babul Supriyo, returned to TMC.
