UP Election Result 2022: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) retained power in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, but saw a decline in the number of seats compared to the previous elections. Along with this, many top leaders had to face defeat. The biggest loss was to Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, who lost to Samajwadi Party’s Pallavi Patel in Sirathu by a margin of 7,337 votes.
Many big leaders of BJP got defeat
Among the losers this time is the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Rural Development, who was defeated by Jai Prakash Aanchal of Samajwadi Party by 12,951 votes in Bairia constituency. Apart from this, Sports Minister Upendra Tiwari lost from Phephna constituency to Sangram Singh of Samajwadi Party by a margin of 19,354 votes.
Cabinet minister Rajendra Pratap Singh, popularly known as Moti Singh, lost from Patti seat to Ram Singh of Samajwadi Party by a margin of 22,051 votes. In Thana Bhawan Assembly, Sugarcane Minister Suresh Kumar Rana defeated Rashtriya Lok Dal’s Ashraf Ali Khan by a margin of 10,806 votes. In Etawah, Education Minister Satish Chandra lost to Samajwadi Party’s Mata Prasad Pandey by 1,662 votes.
Apart from this, BJP’s firebrand leader Sangeet Som also got defeated in the election. Sangeet Som was MLA from Sardhana seat of Meerut, but this time he had to face defeat badly.
Keshav Prasad Maurya said – the decision is accepted
Keshav Prasad Maurya said on his defeat, “I humbly accept the decision of the people of Sirathu assembly constituency, grateful for the hard work of each and every worker, I express my gratitude towards the voters who gave blessings in the form of votes.”
