Dhuri assembly seat comes in Sangrur district from where Bhagwant Mann has been a two-time MP. However, here he is contesting from Congress party’s sitting MLA Dalveer Singh Goldie. In the year 2017, Dalveer Singh Goldie defeated AAP’s opponent by a margin of 2811 votes. There are 74 villages in Dhuri Vidhan Sabha.

Shiromani Akali Dal National President Sukhbir Singh Badal is contesting from Jalalabad

Sukhbir Singh Badal, who is the national president of Shiromani Akali Dal and was also the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab in 2009-10. He is the son of former Chief Minister of the state and national leader Parkash Singh Badal. He has been a two-time MP from Faridkot Lok Sabha seat and this time he is contesting from Jalalabad assembly seat. Earlier, he had been a four-time MLA from here. In the last assembly elections, he defeated AAP leader Bhagwant Mann from this seat.

Due to Sukhbir Singh Badal contesting from here, this seat is one of the hottest seats in Punjab. Sukhbir Badal is giving competition to his former ally BJP’s Purun Chandra here. Apart from these, Congress has made Mohan Singh from here and AAP has made Jagdeep Kamboj as its candidate.
