Jeevan Jyot Kaur defeated her nearest rival Navjot Singh Sidhu by a margin of 6,750 votes. Jeevan Jyot Kaur got 39,679 votes, while Navjot Singh Sidhu got 32,929 votes. Vikram Singh Majithia came third in Amritsar East assembly seat and got 25,188 votes.

Regarding the victory of the party, Jeevan Jyot Kaur said that this time people wanted change. He said that Aam Aadmi Party is the only party which has come for change, not politics. She told that she runs an NGO. He said, “My NGO is active in three states. In 2015, I felt that I should join a political party to do social service in a better way, so I found Aam Aadmi Party to be the only party which does social service. works.”
