Amidst the allegations of SP, the officials concerned in Varanasi, Bareilly and Sonbhadra have been removed. District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma from Varanasi said that, after a dispute arose over the illegal transportation of EVMs to the counting site at Pahariya Mandi, Pandeypur, the nodal officer of EVMs, Additional District Magistrate Nalini Kant Singh, was given EVM transportation. Due to negligence, he was removed from the election work with immediate effect late on Wednesday night.
He said that in place of Kant, Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Sanjay Kumar has been made EVM in-charge. The District Magistrate said that after the ruckus over the replacement of EVMs on Tuesday, all the machines were checked late in the night in the presence of election observers and candidates.
Kaushal Raj Sharma said that all control units, ballot units and VVPATs were checked. He said that during this time the candidates and office bearers of most of the parties were present and all the 20 EVM sets were sealed in the box after the present candidates were satisfied.

SP uploaded a video of an official from his Twitter handle in which he is admitting that the required protocol was not followed in EVM transportation on Tuesday. However, he categorically ruled out any possibility of EVM tampering.
The SP further said in the same tweet, “In many districts, information is being received about EVM tampering. On whose behest is this happening? Are the officials being pressurized from the Chief Minister’s Office? Election Commission please clarify. “
