The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) on Saturday decided to reduce the interest rate on provident fund (EPF) deposits to 8.1 percent for the financial year 2021-22. This is the lowest interest rate in the last four decades. In 2020-21, this rate was 8.5 percent. At the same time, the opposition parties have come out against this decision of the government. The leaders of the opposition are criticizing the Modi government regarding this. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also gave her reaction in this matter on Sunday. Criticizing the Modi government at the Center, he called this decision anti-people and anti-labour. Let us know what else Mamta Banerjee said on this issue.
‘Exposes BJP’
Mamta Banerjee tweeted that, ‘After the victory in UP, the BJP government has immediately brought its gift card. The Central Government has reduced the interest rate on Employees’ Provident Fund deposits to the lowest level of the last 4 decades. This proposal exposes the real face of BJP. This proposal has come at a time when the middle and lower middle class workers and employees of the country are already going through financial trouble due to Corona epidemic.
After the vote victory in UP, BJP government comes out with its gift card immediately! It at once unmasks itself by proposing to slash the interest rate on Employees’ Provident Fund deposits to a four- decade low nadir. (1/3)

‘Bharatiya Janata Party is anti-labour’
In a tweet, Mamta Banerjee described BJP as anti-people and anti-labour and said, ‘This step is totally against the labor and the people. It also exposes the cruel and one-sided public policy of the central government, which protects the interests of industrialists by ignoring the farmers, workers and middle class. All the parties of the opposition will have to unite and oppose this black law.
The anti-people, anti-worker step exposes the crudely lopsided public policies of the current central establishment which espouses interests of big capital at the expense of farmers, workers, and middle classes. The black initiative must be thwarted by united protests.(3/3)
