Election Result 2022: The results of the assembly elections in five states, declared on Thursday, came as a disappointment to many political stalwarts. In this election, two sitting and five former Chief Ministers have to face defeat from their respective seats. Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and his Uttarakhand counterpart Pushkar Singh Dhami have also lost from their respective seats.
Same is the case with former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Singh Rawat and former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Amarinder Singh and they have also lost from their respective seats. Dhami may have lost the electoral battle, but his party has emerged victorious in Uttarakhand.
CM Channi lost from both the seats
In Punjab, three former chief ministers Badal, Amarinder Singh and Rajinder Kaur Bhattal have lost from their respective seats. Aam Aadmi Party has won a massive victory in this state. Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi lost the elections from both Bhadaur and Chamkaur Sahib seats. Shiromani Akali Dal chief and former deputy chief minister of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal lost the election to Aam Aadmi Party’s rival. Most of the current and former ministers of the Punjab government have lost to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates in the elections.
Former Chief Minister also lost in Goa
In Goa, former Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress candidate Churchill Alemao had to face defeat at the hands of AAP candidate from Benaulim seat. Both the deputy chief ministers of the coastal state had to face defeat at the hands of Congress rivals. However, BJP has emerged as the single largest party in Goa and will form the next government.
Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar was defeated by Leader of Opposition and Congress candidate Digamber Kamat, while other Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar was defeated by Congress’s Altone D’Costa. Counting of votes for the assembly elections held in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa and Manipur began on Thursday amid tight security.
