‘Over 22,500 Indians evacuated from Ukraine, 15-20 still stranded’



It has been more than three weeks since the war between Russia and Ukraine. This war started on 24 February. After the start of the war, the central government started a campaign to bring back the Indians trapped in Ukraine. The campaign was launched in the name of Operation Ganga. According to the government, more than 22 thousand 500 citizens of the country have been evacuated from Ukraine.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said that more than 22,500 citizens of our country (from Ukraine) have been evacuated, right now there are 15-20 people who want to leave and the rest do not want to leave, we will do as many as possible. Giving assistance.

Earlier, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had informed Parliament that on February 15, 20 and 22, an advisory was issued by the Indian Embassy asking Indian citizens and students to leave Ukraine. Despite the constant advisory, a large number of students were not leaving from there.

The Foreign Minister told that when the war started in Ukraine, at that time more than 18 thousand students were trapped there, the airspace was closed. In such a situation, the challenges before the government were serious, but despite these, we used the border of neighboring countries to evacuate our people.
