Jammu and Kashmir Police claim that they foiled an attempt to snatch weapons at Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar and killed a Pakistani terrorist. The terrorist was killed in a shootout in the Hazratbal area of the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar told reporters, "A police team was tracking him and their aim was to attack the police guard at the dargah and snatch his rifle." The top police officer said, "Soon after seeing the police team, he opened fire with a pistol and then the police retaliated, killing the terrorist, who was a Pakistani and was active for the last six months.”
Police officer said that two more terrorists fled and "We are tracking them using CCTV etc." He said that the intelligence system in Srinagar is very strong.
